If it’s true, as a few commenters suggested in Nicki’s last post, that in fact many agencies do not seek transparency and the corrupt ones do not have any incentive to work ethically, what can be done? For as long as adoptions have been reopen (and likely long before that), parents have shared experiences about their time in-country. Likely those of us lucky enough to run into other parents in Vietnam who use different agencies probably notice major differences in how the in-country experience is handled by various agencies.

I think it is really important to read first hand accounts of other parents’ recent experiences. It is one thing to read about what might happen but it really drives it home as a real viable risk when it has happened to other families out there.
